06 Jan Winter Storm is on the way!
A winter storm warning has been issued by The National Weather Service and will be in effect for much of North Carolina beginning at 7 p.m. Approximately 6 to 10 inches of snow are predicted for most counties, including Wake County. Many of the main roads have already been brined in anticipation, and the governor has declared a State of Emergency ahead of the storm. With all that the state is doing to prepare, do you have a snow removal plan in place for your business?
Removing ice and snow is essential to keeping your business running safely. With temperatures predicted to remain below freezing throughout the weekend, the snow won’t be melting quickly. Accumulated snow can put undue stress on overhangs and roofs, causing structural damage if left unchecked. It also poses a danger to employees and potential customers. Your removal plan should include:
- Clearing all entrances and exits of obstructions.
- Removing snow and icicles from overhangs.
- Shoveling all sidewalks.
- Treating outdoor walkways with some form of ice melt.
- Plowing snow from the parking lot.
